Pharaoh, Sue, Maggie, and Caine
When I adopted my first greyhound, Caine, I fell deeply in love with the breed and became passionate about the efforts to find homes for retired racers. I began to volunteer for Chinook Winds Greyhound Rescue in Alberta, Canada. Currently, I am a meet-and-greet host, foster mom, adoption representative, and foster coordinator for the Edmonton area.
My own pack has now grown to three greyhounds, and I continue to love and serve the breed.

About A Step Ahead Collars
Caine, Maggie, and Pharaoh, my three beautiful greyhounds, are the inspiration behind A Step Ahead Collars. Their long, elegant necks look beautiful in wide martingale collars, but I couldn’t find the perfect collar for my greys. I wanted the beauty of a wide collar without the bulk. Also, I needed a very responsive collar for my prey driven dogs, and found the satin lined, wide control loops didn’t slip through the metal slides to tighten down quickly and smoothly.
I began to experiment and the end result is the Step Ahead collar. Friends asked me to sew collars for their hounds and encouraged me to make my collars available to the public; and so, A Step Ahead Collars for Hounds was born.
We Support Greyhound Rescue
We contribute products to the fundraising efforts of numerous rescue groups in Canada and the U.S.A. A Step Ahead martingale tag collar set is donated to every senior greyhound adopted through Chinook Winds Greyhound Rescue in Northern Alberta.
