Construction
Core: We use top quality polypropylene and nylon webbing for extra strength and flexibility.
Lining: To prevent rubbing or chaffing, every collar is lined with smooth satin, colour coordinated with the decorative trim.
Hardware: For extra security, only solid cast hardware is used on all martingale collars. Welded or formed hardware is never used for these walking collars.
Stitching: All stress points are quadruple stitched in a double row. We use color coordinated, 100% polyester, Gutermann thread which is resistant to abrasion, wear, and mildew. This thread is softer than “invisible” nylon thread, and is never “pokey” where the threads are trimmed.
Trim: Decorative trims are selected in either ribbon or fabric. Choose from French jacquard, vibrant grosgrain, cool cotton, or elegant silk brocade. Ribbons and fabrics are carefully coordinated to ensure every collar is a work of art that you and your hound will be proud to show off. We only carry limited quantities of any one trim, so every Step Ahead collar is either an original or a limited edition.
Product Care
- Machine Wash: Insert collars into a knee sock and knot the top, or use a laundry bag.
- Wash on delicate cycle.
- Lay flat to dry.
- Never machine dry your collar. The drier heat weakens the webbing.
Breakage
The chances of a Step Ahead martingale breaking or snapping are slim to none. Inspect your collar periodically to ensure it is adjusted properly and that it hasn’t been weakened by chewing or scratching.
